Mice!

No, not the fuzzy little creepy things you catch with cheese! This one belongs to my computer.

Yesterday I discovered that the right clicky thing stopped working. So I had to run out and by a new one. Now I work on wallpapers again! Yay! I'll post some new ones that I have as soon as I do some touch ups.

Bathroom Renos

Well, the walls are painted the medicine cabinet it up and the pictures for the walls are hung. Only one problem though: I don't have a towel bar, toilet paper holder, toothbrush holder or door knobs for the medicine cabinet or the vanity!

Why? Because I am getting them powder coated. They are going to be...well you'll just have to stay tuned to find out what colour they are going to be and what the bathroom looks like. As soon as I get these last few items in I'll take final pictures and post them.

Joke of the day:

1. Only in North America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.
2. Only in North America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.
3. Only in North America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.
4. Only in North America......do people order double cheese burgers, large fries, and a diet Coke.
5. Only in North America......do banks leave both doors to the vault open and then chain the pens to the counters.
6. Only in North America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.
7. Only in North America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.
8. Only in North America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.
9. Only in North America......do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.
10. Only in North America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

P.S. Alls good with me, I been doing nothing but playing Nintendo Wii and working.

Screening Calls

So in the event a customer is late with payments we make three phone calls and if they still have not paid off their account we send them letters which get progressively tougher.

This one customer is always late on their payment so we are always making calls and sending faxes and letters. None of this seems to get through to these people. Well, for the last couple weeks whenever I call to get an explanation for late payment I am always getting the answering machine.

Today is when I came up with my little theory. I bet they are screening their calls b/c they probably owe other people as well so they are avoiding anyone they owe. :(

This is how it went down today:

I call them using my cell phone and girl answered. I said "Oh sorry got the wrong number!" (Part of theory)

Next I dialed their number off of the work phone and what did I get...the answering machine. So I left a message (knowing the girl was sitting right there and could hear me) " This is Alexis from ...and I am just calling to let you know that we have made many attempts to reach you regarding your overdue account. I will be faxing you a letter and a statement. Please read carefully and call me back as soon as possible."

I sent the fax. I called the company back using the office phone and I got the answering machine again. So I tried using my cell phone again, but I got the answering machine again. (I think she was on to me that I was on to her and her little screening scheme.) So I went and asked a co-worker to use his cell phone to call her.

She picked up! Yay! This is what I said, "Hello, this is Alexis from... and I'm call regarding your overdue account. Did you get the fax I sent you?"

Her "Yes, I did. We just walked in so I was just looking at the letter. And I haven't gotten around to listening to your message yet." (How did she know I left a message? Hmmm, and how if she just walked in did she just answer the phone when I called on my cell! That was so a lie!)

"Okay, well, just to confirm we require a full payment by next Thursday. In the event that we do not receive this payment or we do not find the funds sufficient we will turn the account over to a collection agency."

Her "Ok, bye"

So now we have to make sure we call off phones she's never seen on her caller id before. Hopefully, things work out.

In other news, I have had a headache all day (not b/c of above mentioned story) Just sort of woke up with one nagging at the back of my head and now it is sort of going away but it was full blown headache before I left work. :(

Joke of the Day:

These are from actual resumes:

"Personal: I'm married with 9 children. I don't require prescription drugs.

"I am extremely loyal to my present firm, so please don't let them know of my immediate availability."

"Qualifications: I am a man filled with passion and integrity, and I can act on short notice. I'm a class act and do not come cheap."

"I intentionally omitted my salary history. I've made money and lost money. I've been rich and I've been poor. I prefer being rich."

"Note: Please don't misconstrue my 14 jobs as 'job-hopping'. I have never quit a job."

"Number of dependents: 40."

"Marital Status: Often. Children: Various."

The Third Wheel

Ever felt like a third wheel when you were invited to an event? Most people have.

Ever felt like a third wheel when you invite others to an event? Well, that is what Saturday will feel like for me.

Me and my family are going to a dance in a town about 10 min from where I live. I have invited my best friend. Unfortunately, (and not in the bad way b/c I like him b/c he makes my friend happy) I had to invite her boyfriend as well. Now I feel like a third wheel and Saturday.

Don't get me wrong, no jealousy here, I'm extremely happy for her b/c he treats really really good and I couldn't have asked for a better boyfriend for her. (Last one was a jerk)

Anyways, point is (question to you, I need help!) should I be feeling like a third wheel to an event that I invited them to?

Worse part is, I always feel like an outsider (third wheel) when it comes to these things b/c I feel that I'm all alone at the event (not that I am in anyway, just how I feel. I know that other people are there I just look around and it seems that I'm there all by myself and I don't know what to do.

Sorry, I didn't mean to rant like that, it just started to spill as soon as I started typing. Who better to come for an opinion and some advice then you guys. You know me but yet you can give your honest opinion b/c you don't really know me, you know?

So what is your take on my little issue?

Anyways, on a happier note, besides already feeling like a third wheel for an event that hasn't come up yet, I 'm really excited to go on Saturday b/c there is going to be an old fashioned band there and they play lots of dances that you don't normally see now. Like: The Fox Trot, Waltz, Polka, Jive, Two step, and many more! :D

My favourite dance to do is the Polka! On the turns my dad can lift me right off my feet. That is always fun. :D

Please, Don't Drink and Drive

A couple months ago a DJ on my favourite radio station read this. I only thought of putting this on b/c last night I was thinking of a friend that was killed by a drunk driver.

Someone Should Have Taught Him:

Mom,
I went to a birthday party but I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink at all, so I had a sprite instead.
I felt proud of myself, the way you said I would,
That I didn't choose to drink and drive,
though some friends said I should.
I knew I made a healthy choice and your advice to me was right
As the party finally ended and the kids drove out of sight.
I got into my car, sure to get home in one piece,
Never knowing what was coming, something I expected least.
Now I'm lying on the pavement, I can hear the policemen say,
"The kid that caused this wreck was drunk."
His voice seems far away.
My own blood is all around me, as I try hard not to cry.
I can here the paramedic say, "This girls is going to die."
I'm sure the guy had no idea, while he was flying high,
Because he chose to drink and drive, that I would have to die.
So why do people do it, knowing that it ruins lives?
Now the pain is cutting me like a hundred stabbing knives.
Tell my sister not to be afraid, tell daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven to put "Daddy's Little Girl" on my grave.
Someone should have taught him that it's wrong to drink and drive.
Maybe if his mom and dad had I'd still be alive.
My breath is getting shorter, I'm getting really scared.
These are my final moments, and I'm so unprepared.
I wish you could hold me mom, as I lie here and die.
I wish that I could say I love you and good-bye.

Please don't drink and drive!

No New Glasses

So I don't need to get another pair of glasses. The ones that I have now will do just fine. My left eye changed a little which was what was causing the thing while I was driving. To fix that I am supposed to wear my glasses all day long. And if I notice a bigger change within the next year I'm supposed to go back to get my eyes checked out again.

Shopping

Tomorrow I'm going shopping with my best friend. I'll let you know how that goes when I get home. :D

Joke of the Day

The kids filed back into class Monday morning.

They were very excited. Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then share with the class how they were successful.

Little Mary led off, "I sold girl scout cookies and I made $30," she said proudly, "my sales approach was to appeal to the customer's civil spirit and I credit that approach for my success."

"Very good," said the teacher.

Little Sally was next, "I sold magazines," she said, "I made $45 and I explained to everyone that magazines would keep them abreast of current events."

"Very good, Sally," said the teacher.

Eventually, it was Little Johnny's turn. The teacher held her breath. Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box full of cash on the teacher's desk. "$2,467" he said.

"$2,467!" cried the teacher, "What in the world were you selling?"

"Toothbrushes," said Little Johnny.

"Toothbrushes?" echoed the teacher, "How could you possibly sell enough toothbrushes to make that much money?"

"I found the busiest corner in town," said Little Johnny, "I set up a chocolate chip cookie stand and gave everybody who walked by a free sample.

They all said, “This tastes like POOP!" Then I replied, “It is. Wanna buy a toothbrush?!!"

(Oh Little Johnny!)

Alseep at the Keyboard

So I have never ever done this not even in school! I fell asleep while I was typing a letter at work! :o I don't know how long I was out but thankfully nobody saw so I just pretended it never happened.

Point of the story is that I maybe only had 2 1/2 hrs sleep last night! Why? Because it was absolutely freezing last night! I even had to throw on another blanket even with my duvet on!!!!! :o

I have honestly tried to read all of you blogs and comment on them but I have been really busy over the Christmas break but now hopefully things will start get back to normal soon! :D

Eyes

Yesterday I was driving home (in the dark) and I noticed that I could barely see. Now, the sky was clear, moon was out and there was no blowing snow. It was blurry but not blurry enough to warrant pulling over and getting someone to pick me up. (I wasn't wearing my glasses last night) Tonight I wore my glasses home and it was a little better. But I did call my eye doc and got an appointment booked for Sat. Until then I talked to my boss and he is going to let me go early that way I don't have to deal with that. :D

Maybe I'll get a nice pair of spectacles that I have to wear while driving.

And if I get new glasses for driving maybe I'll get a new pair of reading glasses.

And I would put up a joke of the day but I have really big headache right now so this was only going to be a short blog!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! How was your New Year's? What did you do to ring in 2009?

I made my first turkey dinner on Tuesday! It turned out really good, if I do say so myself! :D

Here are some picks:

The turkey!

I made everything from scratch all by myself! :)

Instead of a Joke of the day I'm going to give you a quote of the day from House!

House Quote Of the Day:

"No, his are fine. we just thought it would be cool if he had three"
